THE CITY IS AT WAR;;
Although you could hardly call this a city. The year is 2008, and the setting is the small town of Newport, Colorado. The population is probably equivalent to most public highschools, and 'small town charm' isn't the only thing it has. Here, there is no secrets. Everyone knows everything about everyone. It has always been this way. And while we hate it, we can't imagine living another way. Some, though, are bound for the big cities after graduation, and some will probably die right here in Newport.
Newport is famous for being a wealthy mining town, or at least it used to be. Now it is still wealthy, but no one mines anymore. In 1935, something happened that almost closed the mines for good, and it remained the town's biggest unsolved mystery and its only claim to fame. Even after the mines reopened in 1985. work closed soon after, and most tried to forget about the years-old ghost story and disappearence.
Actually, Newport has another claim to fame. Its students. The majority are rebellious against Newport life, the new generation looking for bigger and better things. But for now, they're here, under the judgemental eye of the adults and the faculty that never really trusted them in the first place. Some studets like to pull together in cliques. Others stand alone. A specific group even takes amusement in doing everything they know they shouldn't, and frequently are punished for it. They've playfully called themselves the Newport Hellions, and they're not much more than a group of friends that really, really want to give Newport a new outlook on things.
Acceptance. Equality. And a love for chaos.
