Darkness befell the world. As war ravaged the main world of earth as we knew it a small number of citizens fled the known world to a large island in the middle of the ocean where they used magic to block all access in and out of the island they named Thian. This happened some six hundred years ago. Making it the year 1908. They brought with them nothing but their families and a few possession.
The one thing no one realized was that Thian was special. It was a land of magic, so some of the humans began to change, some became adapt to the elements, some became magic users such as Witches, Wizards, Necromancers and Druids. And some became far different like shapeshifters and vampires.
Now separate from the known world the year is 2008 (yes modern times) and we are still vastly different. Though the world outside is different Thian people known nothing of the changes in technology that went on around the rest of the world. Thian's time and advances strayed towards a different form of technology. Though guns and such technology is used, there is no technology like cars and planes. There is simply no need for it.
Thian is a magical island with magical beasts and beautiful landscapes surrounding a boundary that isolates the elementalists from the rest of Thian. In a way Thian is a purer version of our earth.
