[ dalia fable ]
I'm holdin' on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground and I'm hearin' what you say but I just can't make a sound tell me that you need me then you got and cut me down but wait . . . Books. The word basically spelled freedom to her. She was no where near nerdy, but she found freedom in the stories that authors so selflessly grueled over for years. Be it fairy tales, mysteries, comedy or romance, she would read them all. Her childhood favorite was the "Into The Land of the Unicorn" series, but she would never spill that to anyone. It was only mildly embarrassing, note the seething sarcasm.
But today she wasn't in here to pleasure read - she was in here to study, or at least make an attempt. She was supposed to be reading up on chemistry or something of the like, but instead she had grabbed a dance book that revolved around ballet. Come to think of it, she needed to work on her pointe - maybe this book would have tips on how to strengthen your toes, or something.
Taking a seat at a well cushioned sofa that was hidden in a little nook between a group of shelves, she flips the book open to the index and runs one of her fingers down the line. Nothing seemed to jump out at her, so she just started on the first page. Not like it would hurt, the book was only fifty or so pages. Glancing up before she began reading, she looked around; she was on the only couch, and beside her was a light. She assumed this little area was for those who actually cared if the library was loud - as if anyone came here anyway. Sighing, her eyes drop back down to her book. She contemplates getting up to look for another, but opts to read a few pages and give the book a chance.

Jae sighed as he scratched his head, his eyes still glued to the notebook in front of him. As a vocalist he was required to write atleast three new pieces each semester. He was racking his brain as he attempted to come up with something he could be proud of. Jae had a hard time mostly because he was a perfectionist, and if it wasnt perfect he didnt let it be seen. Yet then his mind wondered to other things like it always did, one of the things that was on his mind a lot latley was Dalia. Boy could that girl put a smile on his face in a heart beat, not to mention she was just so damn beautiful. Her light long hair taunted him, and her light colored eyes lured him. Not to mention her body, god he couldnt let his mind go there...embaressing things could happen if he did. And to think she was his, just the thought made him smile. But then again everything had to remain a secret, which made things rather difficult on the both of them. They always snuck off together, slinked around at night, and to be honest Jae was getting tired of it. Was she ashamed of him? It was possible after all he wasnt the boy any girl's dad wanted them with, he had a record, he had numerous other probems that made him such an unfitting match for Dalia, but for some reason it worked for them. They were so passionate for one another, not to mention always there to help the other. Guess that was the good thing about them starting off as friends.
Jae snapped from his thoughts as he forced himself to work on his lyrics. And like that it seemed to come to him, and his pencil began moving once more. Jae drew insperation from everything. Past problems, past loves and everything else that affected his life. Though as he sat at the table in the library a blond bombshell caught his attention. As Jae looked up his thoughts were confirmed it was Dalia. She hadnt saw him, and that made him smile. Now he could sneek up on her. So in typical Jae style he stalked her around the library watching as she picked up different books. He leaned against one of the shelves and just watched her. She was so ellegent, so graceful, she was everything he wasnt and more. And in that moment he knew why keeping their relationship a secret was so easy, because he loved her so much. He had to admit after what Romley had done to him, he never thought he would like another girl in the same way. Dalia had changed all that, and well he wouldnt give her up for the world.
With a smile he watched her wonder over to the secluded place in the library and sit down on the couch. He smirked before trailing after her, a smile glued to his face as he sat down next to her. "Boo." he said playfully as he kissed her on the cheek. He looked over at the book she had in her hands and grinned. "Your one dedicated dancer arnt you." he said with another one of his famous grins. He couldnt help but to smile when he was around her, she just made him so giddy it was ridiculous.

To be quite blunt, this book sucked. It was just basically what she knew written down on pages. It was something that she would potentially have read twelve years ago when she was five and didn't know anything yet. But now it just made her head spin. Sighing she leans back, turning to drop the book on the little table beside her. As she turns back Jae was suddenly there, which obviously startled her. She emits a squeal and quickly covers her mouth, slowly lowering it as a smile takes over. "Jae!" She whispers loudly, not even bothering to try and hide her smile.
Dalia would normally probably glance to make sure no one could see them together, but lately she hadn't cared as much. Plus, they were in the library. It wasn't like someone was going to magically appear with binoculars and document their every move. Leaning into him a bit she returns his kiss, but on the lips, then sits back into the couch with her shoulder touching his, and laces her fingers in his. "Dedicated dancer? Of course. If I wasn't, my dad would probably have a cow." She rolls her eyes, then corrects herself. "Okay, not my dad. My step monster." She knew Jae loved her, but was a bit worried as yes, she was a hopeless romantic; but with that came her realist side. She wasn't sure if she believed in teenage love, or if she was just too scared to totally and completely give herself to someone. "What are you doing here?" She asks, squeezing his hand a bit. She didn't think he was really the studious type.

When she squealed Jae couldnt help but to laugh. She was so girly, but he found that to be one of the most adorable things about her. When you looked at Jae you wouldnt think the keeper of his heart to be Dalia. To most they just didnt see it, didnt see how these two opposites would actually make it. Dalia was a girly girl, and in the eyes of most daddy's little princess. Jae was your typical screwed up bkid, with no ambition, well thats what people liked to say anyway. Dalia was a graceful ballet dancer, where Jae was a heavy metal screamo musician. But the difference never seemed to bother the two, they just werent ready to tell the world, they were together. Jae didnt mind it so much, sure his boys back home would give him shit for dating a manicured princess, but in all honesty Jae wouldnt care. But to be honest he didnt know if Dalia was the same. Would she defend him infront of her parents, and friends? That truly was the question at hand, for Jae had heard the stories about her father, and well he knew he didnt stand a chance in getting into that family portrait. "Babe your too cute." Jae replied softly as her hand remained over her mouth.
Jae smirked when he felt her soft lips against his. Even though the sensation was short lived, it sent a chill through his muscular frame. What could he say he craved the girl, she was more addicting then heroine. Her lips were like morphine and always left him begging for more. When her lips parted his he groaned in defiance. "Your such a tease." he said playfully, before letting his fingers lace with his. Letting his thumb tenderly stroke her hand. Even though Jae came across as intemidatiing, he really did have a soft spot, and he really did care about the beautiful girl next to him. Jae listened as she commented about her father, then her stepmother. "I dont understand why that woman has a say in anything, she didnt give birth to you, so she needs to just butt out before I cut her abnormally large nose off." Jae replied with a laugh, as he attempted to keep his girl in a good mood. Her dad always put her in the worst of moods, thus Jae avoided talking about it at all.
When she asked why he was here, he gave her a skeptical look. He hoped he wasnt bothering her, or interrupting. " Studying.. duh." Jae replied in a fake serious tone, as he was merely joking with her. Jae didnt study he never did. He either already knew the answers or didnt care to know. "Just kidding, I was actually working on some lyrics." Jae replied with a smirked. As he allowed himself to cuddle up against her. For he enjoyed these moments, moments when he could just hold her.

Dalia thought she heard something, which caused her heart to race faster then it already was. It wasn't just because she didn't want them to get caught, because really she wouldn't mind if they got found out. She was just naturally jumpy, always concerned someone from her past would sneak around the next corner and take over her life again. As he calls her a tease, she slaps him playfully. "Excuse me?" Leaning forward she cusps the neck of his shirt, pressing her soft lips against his in a hard, passionate kiss. As she breaks it she smiles, light blue eyes sparkling.
Jae seemed to completely understand her relationship with her father and step mom. Honestly she probably portrayed her father a bit worse then he really was - he was a nice guy, but had been brain washed by his insanely rich, barbie wife. She probably had more plastic surgery then Michael Jackson. "Her nose? Oh no, the doctors took care of that a few weeks ago. I think now her biggest worry is whether or not those butt implants need to be replaced or not." Sighing to avoid rude laughter she leans into Jae, using her hand that was holding his to pull his arm gently around her shoulders.
Failing miserably she snorts with laughter at his proclamation that he was studying. "Studying what? Anatomy of that cheerleader?" She asks playfully, looking in the direction of an extremely skinny, fake breasted blond bimbo as she passed by. Writing lyrics made more sense. "Get anything good yet?" She asks, wondering if he had paper with him or if he was just brainstorming. She wasn't really sure how writing songs worked; she had never done it or attempted it before.

When she slapped him he just grinned. That was one thing you learned quickly about Jae, he liked being hit by girls. He found it to be one of the biggest turn ons, along with being dominated by a female. Jae spent so much of his life being in control, calling the shots, that it was actually nice to give the control over to someone else. He smirked when she acted as if she was offended. "Dont be offended that was a complimant, I like it when you tease me." Jae replied with a smirk, but his smirk didnt last long. When she grabbed his neck, and pressed her lips hard against his he couldnt help but to let another groan escape his pierced lips. The cold metal of his lip ring teased her warm lower lip, as this kiss lasted a bit longer. Yet she broke away yet again, and all Jae could do was stare into those light blue eyes. "Your so mean to me you know that? Teasing me like that is just cruel." he said with a sly grin. Yes he was joking with her, yet at the same time he wasnt. For he would have been more than happy to have that kiss last a little longer. What could he say, he was attracted to his girl, head over heels for her would be putting it mildly.
Jae just shook his head at her comment about her step mother. He really had nothing to say to that. The woman was a freak of nature, and everything about her was artificial, yet at the mention of the butt replacements, he laughed. "What your dad wear them out already..." he said with a laugh. Sure it was a crude, and insinuating remark. But hey if you thought your parents didnt fool around, well then you could stay in that dream world. Jae knew his parents did, hell he could hear them half the time...which by the way was totally disgusting, and had actually caused him to vomit on one occasion. When she attempted to wrap his arm around her, and fail, he smiled. Before placing his arm around her and letting his hand rest down by her hip, as he gently kissed the top of her head.
When she accused him of studying the anatomy of that cheerleader, he frowned. For in all honesty he hadnt even noticed her. "Why would I want to study her? When yours is so much better." he said with a mischeveous grin, before leaning in and kissing her again. Letting his lips linger on hers a tad bit longer that she had his. As he kissed her he let his free hand come up and rest on the side of her face. He slowly broke the kiss and smiled. Now about his writing. "Yeah" Jae replied as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a crumpled peace of paper, before he read the lines to her.
"Alas, here is your serenade my darling That leaves you speechless and weak. May it teach you how to feel, May it remedy your heartlessness, And may your cries not interrupt this swansong.
This is a call to arms For all those who recognize romance as, As a dying scene, who'll take it to their graves; This is a call to arms For all who hold this sacrament close, May our hearts burn on.
How dare you weep, For it's insincerity that trickles down your face. Alas, here is your serenade my darling. And oh, what a long time coming it has been. This cruel lullaby that shall plague your dreams And carry me towards enforced revolution
.I'll sing for you the threnody of modern romance."
Jae finished and stuffed it back in his pocket. "Still need to add some music to it, and record it before next week." Jae said biting his lip ring as he waited for a response, the song was about Romley, and well he tried not to bring her up around Dalia... for he knew she didnt want to here about his ex.

She knew she shouldn't have slapped him. That was one of the things about him that kind of bothered her, but she would never verbalize; the fact that he liked being dominated. She definitely wasn't like that. She was more of the passionate type that would want sex to be 'making love' and romantic. If he needed to be... dominated, she wouldn't be able to do that for him. He would have to leave her and find someone else, or go behind her back. However, she had a feeling he wouldn't. But what does she know? Of course though, she couldn't help but laugh as he drawled on about her teasing him. She didn't do it on purpose - she just did it because it made her feel wanted. So, she guessed in a sense it was intentional. Just not, if that made any sense.
It took a moment for his joke about her dad and step mom to sink in. As it did, a look of shock and disgust mingled with humor took over. "Sick! Grotesque!" Crunching her nose she forces herself to gag. "That's definitely an image I could have gone a lifetime without." The expression faded and relaxed into a smile. "It's probably true, though." She breathes in and as she lets it out, it turns choppy and slowly becomes a small fit of giggles.
Dalia was self conscious about her body, but Jae always managed to make her feel attractive. Her cheeks darkened a bit at his comment, but it was probably too dark for him to notice. She pulls herself into him closer as he kisses her, the kiss lasting quite a bit longer then the one she had given him. She didn't want to break it, but as he pulls away she sighs a bit.
The lyrics he read to her were obviously about his ex. He seemed to be convinced she hated talking about her, when in reality she didn't mind if it helped him get over her or even just feel better about the whole situation. "I like it." Dal says, an earnest smile on her face as she once again squeezes Jae's hand. "But why does it have to be done so soon?" She figured it was because of finals, but wasn't sure. Maybe he was going to send it to Romley or something. She had an urge to kiss him again but resisted it, even if only for the moment.

Jae just laughed at her appalement. He found all of it to be quite humerous, the thought of her dad and step mom going at it probably consumed her mind at that moment. It was a sick thought, but Jae was the type that couldnt keep a sarcastic comment like that to himself. Yet when she agreed with him, he was slightly caught off guard. Dude was her dad even still capabble of it? Ha that was a laugh, but then again with all those helper pills these days he assumed it was possible. Maybe thats why her step mom replaced her but implants so often, god Jae's own thoughts sickened him. "Aww baby im sorry, I didnt mean to put that god awful image in your head." he replied squeezing her hand. When she didnt reply to his comment about her body he knew she was blushing. Though he chose not to say anything about it. Just knowing he had was enough satisfaction for him. The statement was true though, her body was way better then that cheerleaders. Jae liked girls who had some curve to them, the stick ones had never ever been appealing to him. He wanted something he could hold without fear of breaking it. He could since the want in her kiss when he returned his. He could tell she didnt want the kiss to end, and well he didnt either but then again she was the one that wanted to keep them a secret, so making out in the library wasnt an option.
He snapped from his thoughts when she commented on his lyrics. "Thanks, still needs some work, but I might keep this one." Jaedyn said with a smirk. Cause truth be known Jae through out a lot of songs, that in his opinion didnt make the cut. When it came to his music it was intense, it was loud, and most of all it met his standards. Thats something he aways wanted to take Dalia to, one of his shows. Let her see the world in which he had grown up, what his background was, and most all what made him who he was. She was so perfect in his eyes, and in his own he was a mess, tarnished and battered. As much as it hurt to admit, he knew she would never introduce him to her dad and step mother. She didnt want to face their disaproval, and he knew that. "Gotta turn it in for a test grade." Jae replied before smiling at her. His previous thoughts made him a bit down, yet as he looked at her, he couldnt help but to smile. He gently kissed her again, before carefully pulling her into his lap. So that she was sitting on him, with her legs straddling his waist. He gently kissed her, letting his hand rest on the side of her neck. He gently broke the kiss and smiled at her. "You know I love you right?" Jae asked his dark eyes searching hers.

It was almost excruciatingly quiet in the library when the cheerleader finally disappeared. Either the students currently dwelling here were managing to keep their traps shut, or no one was here besides the librarian. It was more then likely the latter, considering the effort students here actually put into their academics. Now when either of them spoke even in a hushed tone it sounded like ice breaking in the deserted Atlantic.
Dalia allowed the lyrics Jae had just read her reply in her head, tossing around the words. They were good - maybe not his all time best, but heck, it was still great. She nods as he mentions handing it in for a grade; that made sense. Why else would he need to have it completed and recorded within a week.
She smiles as he pulls her into his lap, and laces her arms around his neck so that she didn't slide off onto the ground. But as his next words were spoken, her face drops the smile. She knew those words would eventually come, but she'd always avoided how she would react. Maybe by the time he spoke them she'd feel the same way, but it wasn't to be. "Jae." She says quietly, dropping her eyes. Her minds was jumbled, but she managed to pull some words out of the fog and open her mouth. "I know." She contemplated just saying she loved him too, but feared the guilt that would undoubtedly come. Raising her eyes she smiles, hoping she had avoided any crashes that could have arisen.

Jae didnt know what to say as she spoke his name, and her smile disapeared. It kind of alarmed him that him saying he loved her got this kind of reaction. Jae didnt say those words to many people, and he only said it when he truly meant it. But her reaction scared him, and well he didnt like being scared. Yet as she continued to speak, the desire to get up and run grew stronger. Her words alone felt like a thousand daggers stabbing him. Was she really sitting in his lap and telling him she didnt love him? Alright he wasnt so upset about her not repeating the words back to him, but the hesitation scared him. He had taken so much shit to be with her, had risked so much the day he first kissed her, the day he asked her to be more than his friend. What for, so she could stare him in the eyes, and tear his ego to shreds. Jae was well aware of the fact that he was no were near good enough for her, but to have that validated by Dalia herself, made him want to puke. Sure he wasnt the smartest, or most well mannered guy, but he was trying, god was he trying. Because of her he studied now, because of her he smiled, and most of all because of her he was gradually letting his hate go. Jae didnt know how to react in that moment so he simply chewed on his lips ring, before looking down at his hands. What was he suppose to say to that? That it was okay, it was anything but...
Jae looked around the floor for a moment, trying to calm himself before he spoke. "I understand...." he spoke quietly as he nodded his head slowly. Who was he fooling, changing his ways now wouldnt change what he was, what he had been. He was from the streets of L.A, he lived and thrived there. He fought foot and fist for everything he had. He stole, he lied, heat did what he had to survive. He swore like a sailor, and dressed like a thug. His ears had huge holes in them from where they had been gauged out of anger, he had more tattoo's then an army unit. She could never love him, it was just what it was. Yet the thought made him angry, for now he felt somewhat betrayed..led on by her. "I understand, you cant love someone like me. I'm not smart enough, good enough, or talented enough to impress your parents, and you simply cant stand to be a disapointment." Jae replied, somewhat harshly at the end. For he was begining to think she didnt even know who she was, or what she wanted. "I should have seen this coming. I dont deserve someone like you, someone so beautiful that it causes me to stutter, someone so talented that it makes me jealous, and most of all someone so kind that makes me want to change who I am, just to be with them..." Jae replied quietly finally forcing himself to look at her. "Forgive me for loving you, I couldnt help it." Jae said somewhat irritadetly. He should have never said those words, and expected her to feel the same. For at this very moment it felt like his heart had been ripped out of his chest, and beaten with a meat cleaver...

The painful silence that had moments ago nearly made Dalia's ears bleed was what she now begged to return. It was painfully obvious the hurt and anger that had taken over and constricted Jae as her recent words had floated from her lips. She hadn't intended them to, but hadn't had much time to think them through either. Why wasn't she capable of just lying and making it seem real? Why didn't she have that characteristic that billions of other people seemed to so effortlessly master.
At his first comment, she opened her mouth to speak but was quieted as he continued. His words struck her, made her hurt, made her heart ache. Why was he talking like that? Why was he saying those things, the words that were so horribly untrue? Was he trying to hurt her, trying to repay her for what she had just done to him?
She wanted to stop him, but felt she had done enough. As he steamrolled over her emotions, tears began to form and find their way to her cheeks. As she was accustomed though she choked them back, forcing them to hide and wait until she was alone, when she could let them out. "My parents don't matter, why do you have it drilled in your mind that everything is their fault?" She spits out through her impressively solid and unshaken voice. "And never change for anyone, no matter how much you think you love them or could love them. That's not fair to yourself or the other person." She whispers, standing and looking at him one last time before finding her way out of the nook and into another row, breathing labored, still attempting to hold back the tears that were begging to break through.

Jae didnt even acknowledge what she was saying, she blaimed everything on her parents, why couldnt he? Stupid double standards. When she said he shouldnt change himself for the people he loved, he just sighed. "You cant love this mess, so why would I want to remain in this state?" Jae whispered as she got up and walked away from him. He groaned before kicking the small table, that was located infront of the couch, over. Jae didnt handle his feelings well, and his actions painfully showed that. With a growl he got to his feet, he wasnt in the mood for this shit. He never thought it would be so hard to love someone, but everytime he commited himself, everytime he let his true feelings be expressed he got torn. Romley had screwed his best friend, and Dalia thought he was scum. Jae just couldnt win, so what was the freaking point? Jae hit the wall beside him as he walked past the row Dalia was in. He didnt even look at her, as he pulled his hood over his head, and headed for the exit. Yet as his hands touched the cold metal handle of the door he stopped... he wouldnt run, not again.
Jae was scared, it was painfully obvious. Jae loved so fully, so blindly. When he felt like someone no longer loved him, couldnt, or was wanting to leave him, he freaked. So with a heavy sigh he turned and headed back to the aisle in which Dalia had sought refuge. He let his dark brown eyes lock with her blue ones. So much pain seemed to be held in them, begging to be let loose. He bit his bottem lip as he looked at her, he never meant to make her hurt like that. He was just so confused and didnt understand, how someone like him ever got lucky enough to even speak to someone as beautiful as her. Her laugh made him smile, her touch made him shiver, her kisses made him week, and just the thought of loosing her made him want to throw himself infront of a truck. He slowly walked towards her, cautious to make sure she didnt rake him. "Baby, im sorry, I didnt mean it.. im just...scared, thats all." Jae replied, standing a little ways away. He was afraid to touch her, afriad she would retaliate against him. " You just mean so much to me, and I dont want to loose you. And I know im not good enough, and that you deserve someone better, but I do love you, I do." Jae said somewhat pleading, for he didnt want her to turn her back on him.

Colton had been wandering around quite aimlessly when he looked up and realized that he was at the steps of the Library. How'd that happen? He would never know and hoped that he would be able to find his way back to a familliar hallway but for now, Colton was lost. Other than turning around and trying to find a way back, he decided to give the library a look. Maybe there would be something interesting. There had to be; the library is huge.
Stepping into the eerily hushed building, his aqua eyes glanced over to a sour looking librarian and then to an empty mahogany table with uncomfortable looking seats. Typical for a library, really. Sighing, the eighteen year old moved towards the bookshelves although had no idea what he was looking for. Picking up a book, he opened it and flipped through before realizing that it was upside down and had pictures of ballerinas. Bursting into laughter, he then hastily put the book back and turned. As soon as he had turned around, he found himself inches away from the librarians withered face. Colton noticed every little imperfection on her face to the hideous bags under her dull eyes and an ingrown hair that was protruding out of a rediculously huge mole. What an attractive woman... not. He took a breath in to say something and got an intense whiff of sweat, bath beads, and cheap purfume accented with baby power. Lovely.. in a sort of nasty way.
Clearing his throat, Colton took a step back and watched a bit amusedly as he kept tabs on her moods. They went from unimpressed, to annoyed, to upset and lastly, impatient in a matter of seconds. He guessed he was supposed to say something and opened his mouth to speak before the woman started ragging on him. Excellent.
If you want to be in this library I'm going to have to ask you to be quiet. Students are working and I don't want any... punks to disrupt their studies. If you want to lollygag I recommend leaving the premises at once or you will be sent to the head office.
Through this little lecture Colton tried his best to keep a straight face but at the end couldn't help but burst into laughter at the word lollygag. Who uses that word now anyways? His laughter rang loudly through the building, causing a bit of echoes. Shaking his head, he then spoke. His words were screaming with amusement as he tried to imitate her british accent, which he did very well.
All right then. There will be no lollygagging I assure you, madam. And if I might say so, you're the one wasting your time sitting in this place so may I suggest getting out into the real world. I mean, it doesn't cost much, just get a life and you're set. Alright, mate?
His last sentance moved from the english accent to his normal australian as he turned and walked away from the stunned woman. He guessed that no one had ever talked to her that way before. She deserved it for being an old hag anyways. Students had moved their eyes from their books and papers to watch the two as they had interacted. Some gazes followed the Australian as he moved to a place in the middle of the library where the books about percussion happened to be. Maybe this was his lucky day.

She didn't even know what to say. Why was he suddenly acting like this? The mood had suddenly gone from light and happy to dark and down. She wasn't sure if Jae could become violent, but she didn't exactly want to find out. She kind of wanted out of this situation, to be rid of what was going on. Why did he have to say what he had said?
Why did he have to keep saying she could do better, that he wasn't good enough. "There's no such thing as being good enough for someone or not!" Her voice was almost sharp, hoping he would finally get that. "If two people click, they click. If they don't, they don't. It doesn't matter what their status is." She sighs, leaning against the book case behind her.
Then, as if beckoned by some kind of God, Colton showed up. It was her out of a very awkward situation; at least, if Jae didn't continue. She already felt bad, and didn't want to feel even worse. But she was worried about him. He seemed to take everything seriously, get hurt easily. He was sensitive, or at least around things like this. She assumed it was because of his previous ex.
"Hey, Colton, right?" She had met him once before on a walk with Jasper, and remembered his name, but decided to play it off casual. She wasn't sure if he remembered her, and didn't want to seem like some kind of freak if the memory was only one sided.
