The residents of the Magnolia Heights apartments in sleepy Mardene, North Dakota are in for a rude awakening from the storybook life they've been in. Life as they know it as about to be thrown out the window, dropkicked, trampled on, tested, shaken (not stirred), poked, and even prodded a few times for good measure.
The Magnolia Heights inhabitants have always been a tightly-knit, family-like community. They come to each other for advice, they help each other when help is needed, and they invite each other over for dinner once in a while. The people who live there have known each other their entire lives, and in a town as simple and low-key as Mardene, there never really were very many new faces. Things have been this way since the very beginning, and never once did anyone see a reason to change this.
It was after looking at the financial reports for the past year that the city's officials and fundingfriends realized that economy just wasn't working out in Mardene. With the same money being recycled throughout the same people and places, there just wasn't any fresh income anywhere in the town. No one visited the town, because frankly, there was nothing to see. Hardly anyone moved to Mardene, because all the job opportunities were gobbled up by the residents that were already there. No new locations could be presented, because everyone already had a job! It was a vicious cycle that they decided needed to be broken - now.
As such, these people scraped the bottom of their proverbial piggy bank to bring in a few choice hotspots for new activity. They personally would invite new blood into the little town and offer them jobs at said new activity hubs. It was flawless.
Their target audience? The young actors, actresses, musicians, writers, models, photographers, and upcoming starlets of this generation. Mardene would no longer be just a dot on the map. It was to become an entertainer's paradise. Everything the starry-eyed twenty-somethings today could possibly need could be found in one central location.
The one potential bump in the road that no one saw coming was, well, the inhabitants of Magnolia Heights. They liked things as they were. No one wanted their perfect little town to become a haven for the reality t.v. addicted youth of today! The only thing that could come of this, in their minds, was utter disaster. These people would come to their town - their beloved apartment building, even - tire of it, and leave it in shambles. Something had to be done.
Will the Magnolia Heights residents get over their selfish pride and welcome these newcomers with hospitality and open arms, or does Mardene have a war on its hands?
