___chelsea hotel
Of all the Hotels in New York the Hotel Chelsea is listed among the most renowned, the most liked; it is not because the Hotel Chelsea charges the most or the least, or because it is in the best district of the city but because the nation's most bohemian celebrities have been making their home there for the last few decades. These rooms have housed the likes of Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Dylan Thomas, Sid Vicious and all the members of the Grateful Dead but it was in the song "Chelsea Hotel Number 2" that the Hotel found true fame and through the song's writer and singer Leonard Cohen that it has entered folklore. The Hotel welcomes guests from all over the world who are intrigued by the history of the celebrities who have stayed and still stay in the rooms but it is the permanent residents who make the Hotel Chelsea what is it today.
I remember you well in the chelsea hotel,
you were talking so brave and so sweet,
giving me head on the unmade bed,
while the limousines wait in the street.
Those were the reasons and that was New York,
we were running for the money and the flesh.
And that was called love for the workers in song
probably still is for those of them left.
Were you to wander the corridors of the Hotel Chelsea you might run into the Hollywood director who recently lost his wife and with her his muse, or it could be that you stumble upon the stars of New York City’s very own Hospital Beds as they try and unwind their tangled love lives, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to party with the A-List celebrity couple who have come all the way to New York to star in the upcoming movie which is being directed by another A-List Hollywood couple. This movie is the reason why the number of long term residents in the Hotel has increased so rapidly in the last few weeks as actors, writers and directors flock to the site of what will be the hippest Indie movie of 2008. Will you be among them?
I remember you well in the chelsea hotel,
you were famous, your heart was a legend.
You told me again you preferred handsome men
but for me you would make an exception.
And clenching your fist for the ones like us
who are oppressed by the figures of beauty,
you fixed yourself, you said, "Well never mind,
we are ugly but we have the music.".
Will you chose to enter the history, the lives of the celebrities past and present? Will you leave your own mark on the Hotel? Will you enter the drama and the excitement? Or will you simply stay in the room where Sid Vicious may or may not have murderd his girlfriend? Whatever happens you’re in for a Hotel stay you will never forget. And so we invite to come and join us, we look forward to sharing the hotel chelsea with you. [/sup]
