history
Booker was born in Memphis, Tennessee on a cold December night, named after the jazz trumpeter Booker Little. He was the first child of Elise and Leon Lindsay and their pride and joy, so to speak. Leon was a preacher at a local church and basically the leader of a very large community. Booker was raised in the church, it was all he knew for the longest time. It was all he knew period. His mother home schooled him and he only went to a real school when he was in sixth grade. By that time he had figured out what a sheltered life he led and he hated it. It wasn’t long before he got into the wrong sort of crowd and he was putting all of his energy into it. But there was something different about Booker something different that no one else knew. He could control it all, he could stop any time he wanted, he just didn’t want to. He just needed to find some way to channel all his energy into something, and soon enough he found it.
It wasn’t what anyone expected and wasn’t what Booker wanted. Actually no one really wanted it after hearing his voice. But yeah Elise signed Booker up for the church choir and it didn’t turn into what she wanted. See everyone thinks that boys are baritones, or at least everyone in a southern church choir does. Wrong. Booker turned into a soprano, with his scratchy voice that no one could understand what he was saying. He’d always had a sort of high voice but when he started smoking and then singing it all just went down the drain. Booker knew that no one could understand anything that came out of his mouth which caused him to be the hate factor of the choir. However there was another reason why he was staying in the choir, and her name was Valentine. Don’t get me wrong just Booker is not the kind of guy who loves them and leaves them. He’s actually a bit shy when it comes to girls, but not with Valentine.
The only problem that was a huge problem, Booker’s family. It wasn’t that Valentine was a horrible girl, she would have been a normal parent’s dream, not Booker’s. Her family wasn’t Southern enough, not church goers enough, and to unusual. They didn’t understand why Booker wouldn’t want a normal nice southern girl. But with Booker’s changing hairstyle, came his changing lifestyle. He let go of the drugs and became friends with Valentine, spending all the time he could with her. They attended different schools, Booker a small Christian private school, and Valentine a larger one in the town over. By the time that Booker was a sophomore he knew that Valentine was the one. It was a sort of strange feeling knowing that you were so connected with each other that you would be having a bad day, and the other one knew it and would call you the second school was out. Then came the big step, Booker and Valentine were singing at a local show, not even serious about the whole thing. After the show a scout from Hoffman Academy approached them asking them to consider coming to Hoffman. It was like the moment of truth for Booker and Valentine, they had the decision of going and getting out of Tennessee or staying and not knowing if they would ever get out.
They choose Hoffman but before they did, they decided to cement their relationship. At eighteen years old Booker Lindsay made Valentine, Valentine Lindsay. Surprisingly his parents had warmed to the idea and Valentine’s family gave no objection to the situation or none that Booker could see. They spent the summer leading into their junior year in Tennessee packing their belongings and saying goodbye to friends and then in August they arrived at Hoffman ready to make their marriage last and find their voices. Even though Booker was old enough to be a senior, he didn’t want to be finished with school when Valentine wasn’t so Booker enrolled as a junior.

personality
Goofy. Booker is very much a goof. You could sort of tell straight off whenever you put a camera on him he always sticks out his tongue or one of his eyes is half shut. It’s a big part of his personality these days. He likes to keep the mood light when he’s when his friends and he finds it refreshing to be with people who are just as goofy as he is. He tends to say a lot of things at the wrong moment and there’s some awkward silences with him, but he’ll always make something funny with it. He learns from all his mishaps and mistakes that he makes.
Listener. Booker has always been a listener he thinks it’s what makes him a good song writer. He doesn’t exactly put all of his problem and his worries into his songs but he does but some form of them in there. He’ll always listen to his friends when they want to talk, even if he’s in the middle of working on something or he’s just writing an email. He’ll want to talk and help you get things off your mind. He always has Val to listen to his problems, I mean he is married so she has to listen to him, but he thinks that because other people haven’t found their significant other yet he might as well be their ears for a while until they find them.
Husband. It was hard for Booker at first coming to Hoffman and being married, and he didn’t want to say it but being from the south. Booker knows that the English aren’t always fond of Americans and for seventeen year old to already be married they all looked at him funny when he first got here. As much as people say, Booker is a hick and a redneck who can’t sing, or there probably was a baby involved and that’s why they are married, Booker has just learned not to listen to it. He’s learned that he loves Val more than anyone else he has ever known and if people don’t see that when they are together than they are either blind or don’t want to accept it.
