{ comes home on call, isn't that peace,
history Nick and Matt met by complete accident. Matt was headed back to London to see his family after attending college for journalism in the states. The airport accidentally messed up his flight on a plane to London for a person who was on their way to Sydney, Australia. In the whole process, he ended up meeting Nick and chatting with him. After an exchange of phone numbers, the two became close friends. While Matt knew what he wanted—a relationship, family, kids—Nick was still in college for computers and technology, trying to figure out how he would put his knowledge of computers into good use for a career. Matt wanted to stay in London. Nick was toying with moving to the states. It took Nick a while to warm up to the idea of having a boyfriend, rooming with him, and staying in school in London. Nick didn’t know what he was doing first, not accustomed to being openly “gay” or anything. But Matt was so comfortable in his own skin that it didn’t matter. Eventually, the two of them became a permanent thing. Love, if you want to call it that, kept them together. And Matt brought up adoption.
Nick was one of three, so he was used to the whole family setting, but he had doubts about what being a father would be like. Matt seemed like good dad material. Eventually they visited agencies, discussed the ins and outs of adoption with people, read books, saw documentaries. After a whole year of research, the two of them were finally ready for a child. At 24 and 25, Matthew Wagner and Nick Coles finally brought home their son, whom they named Dolon Nicholas.
Dolon was one of those babies. You know, they usually try to get your attention by getting into everything you tell them not to. He excelled at spelling and art in primary school. Most kids got along with him all right. He wasn’t too outspoken of a boy, not one to really take charge. He preferred to let everyone do their thing and have their way. Dolon got high marks in kindness and helpfulness as well, especially in clean up. Most teachers saw his weakness in the friend department, seeing as teachers are supposed to notice those types of things. It was hard for Dolon, getting older, to see all his classmates with a set of one mom and one dad, where as he had two. It was confusing at times, and he felt himself asking a lot of questions about it. At 7 he was starting to understand more. But it was also at that age that he started to understand his classmate’s idea of his two dads’. It was bad to be gay, and Dolon never talked about it anymore, keeping more and more to himself. The teasing started around year five.
The end of year five was a good thing, because he had the opportunity to head to a different school for year 6. He didn’t mention his dads, and nobody brought it up. He slid into a group of boys that liked to mess around and do stupid things, but never anything illegal. He was scared to bring anyone home to hang out, though, because of the situation. His best friend, though, was Collin, and Collin was the first one to know. Dolon didn’t even have to take a second guess—he knew his friend wouldn’t care. Collin was a lot like him in some respects, where they both shared a quiet, less invasive personality. At that same time, girls started to look good. But how do you talk about girls to dads who weren’t interested in them? He could talk to his friends, though, and he did. A lot. Sex became the one topic that they joked about all the time. But his buddy Collin was the only one who knew about all of his crushes. Unfortunately, by year 8, Dolon had said less to his parents on a daily basis than he said to anyone. He even started to dislike his parents for their differences. He was really rude to them, refusing to do what they wanted him to do. Everyone at school saw his sweet side. But no one saw just how ruthless he was to his parents.
Year nine was another change in school. It was worse because Collin’s parents decided that he needed to attend a boarding school in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. But Dolon, having always been a good artist, was starting to develop his skills more and more. He kept looking at ways to escape. A boarding school, just a ways away, specialized in art. The young painter felt he could do what he loved, day in and day out, without having to fear about people finding out his parents were failures, fags. Nick and Matt ended up giving in, and sent Dolon across town for school. Where they rarely saw him, and only between breaks. But this was all right with Dolon. He was finally getting away from a life he hated.

{ am I losin' way too much
personality Dolon has always been somewhat of a quiet boy. He’s never felt the need to be too loud or obnoxious. He was never a kid to take charge or be bossy, and it’s still that way now that he’s older. He can become a chatter box around his friends. He’ll laugh along, play jokes, and relax and have fun. But once you take him away from his friends, he gets quiet again. There’s just nothing for him to say to anyone he doesn’t know that well.
Even though Dolon is one of the quietest kids you’ll ever meet, that still doesn’t stop him from sitting still for long periods of time. That’s one of his biggest personality quirks. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t not move for moments at a time. He’s either crossing his legs, tucking his legs underneath him, messing with his hair, leaning forward or backward, standing up, or sitting down. This is all while he’s barely saying anything, too.
Dole has the most dramatic mood swings. One second he’s the happiest of happy, and then next something will have happened to make him very sad, or angry. He doesn’t like it when he can’t understand something, so he gets sad or angry about it. He doesn’t usually have an anger outburst unless he’s around a friend of family member. These are the people that he knows will still love him no matter how bad he looks.
He could care less about possessions as far as their money value, but if something has a memory attached to it, Dolon can get very sentimental. He has a gazillion pictures on his computer of friends and random happenings. Yes, he even has pictures of his family, but not so many. He’s a lover, really, and is usually very loyal. He could be your best friend, never telling you a lie, never going behind your back. He doesn’t cheat or steel. He could never hate his family, no matter hoe disappointed he is in them.
likes If he said he didn’t like to paint, he’d be lying. Painting is pretty close to his life. He probably wouldn’t be attending school just for that purpose if it wasn’t. Another thing he absolutely loves is music. He isn’t very talented musically, but he does love to listen. He loves what music is about: The lyrics, the harmonics, and the beats. He’s really into technology, like computers, iPods and mp3 players, and even video games. He is a huge gamer, and he talks about it mostly with his friends. Dolon’s a big movie buff, and has seen almost every single blockbuster that has ever come out. dislikes Dolon has a strong dislike for people who don’t give others a chance. He hates judgmental people, rude people, and people that are mean for absolutely no reason. He doesn’t want to surround himself with people like that, so he doesn’t. He isn’t fond of people that try to force their religion on him, either. He believes what he wants to believe, and nobody else’s opinion makes any difference. ambitions Dolon would just like to go on to an art college, where he can graduate and become an artist, displaying his paintings. fears Dolon is deathly afraid that he’s gay. He doesn’t want to be teased and ridiculed like he was back in primary school because he has two dads. He’s just so afraid of it. And he hasn’t told any of his friends this since he was a kid.

He likes to wear jeans, black, gray, or blue, that are either somewhat tight [skinny jeans, “girl pants”, whatever you wish to call them] or jeans that are baggy in the crotch and thin in the leg and ride low. He isn’t into chains or gloves, but doesn’t mind a little bit of eyeliner and hair gel.

sample post Christmas break started out just like any other. School was over with; everyone was excited to head home for break. Dolon would have been more excited if he wasn’t going to his own home. He hadn’t seen his parents since school started, though he had talked to his dads on the phone since then, and his sister Maureen. He rode the bus across the city, bags in arms. He felt the uneasiness in his stomach. He could just see his fathers’ faces before him, asking so many questions that he didn’t want to answer. Questions about school and friends and his love life. He just didn’t feel like dealing with them for a while two weeks.
The bus stop was less than a block from his house, and it pulled up to the curb. He got out and began the walk down the street, praying to some unknown deity for things to go well, for him not to get so angry this time. He finally reached his door and unlocked it, pushing in. He stepped inside and looked around. He knew they were home, but they weren’t in the kitchen. This meant they were in the living room, and Dolon would have to walk through there to get to the stairs, to get to his own room. He sighed, took his shoes off, and started, taking small, quiet steps, toward the living room. The TV was on, and that was all he heard. He saw his sister on the sofa. And as he entered the room, Matt was in the recliner, and Nick was no where to be seen. He didn’t look at the two of them as he filed through the room quickly, practically running toward the stairs.
“Hey—Dole, where’s the fire?” Matt asked as his sun started up the stairs. “Headache. Nap.” He raced into his room and shut and locked the door before landing on his bed. And that was it. The torture was over, for now.
