Rosaline Morella Su was born on December 17th in Paris, France to Rebecca Su and Demetri Boudoir. Although her mother and father had already relocated to the United States, prior to Rosaline’s birth, she decided to give birth in France due to her grandparents' wishes. At the age of thirteen, Rosaline unofficially dropped her father’s surname and adopted her mothers for informal purposes (i.e: when addressed by her friends or classmates). It meant no disrespect towards either party, but ‘Su’ was definitely less of a mouthful than ‘Boudoir’ was. Her mother and father respected her decision, and thought nothing more of it.

Both her parents had resided in France when they had both started dating, thanks to her mother’s meddling best friend, Heather. Her mother had attended private school, while her father was enrolled in private lessons. Her parents had inherited rather enormous fortunes; her mother from her fashion line, and her father had inherited the family business; Boudoir Enterprises. But, life had not been easy for her parents. The Boudoir grandparents had suspicions that Rebecca, who was only a simple seamstress when her parents had been dating, was a gold-digger. But, the couple had held strong, and proved that Rebecca was capable of making her own money. Although they weren’t a perfect family, they were probably everything a healthy, loving one would be. And despite the fact that the family members had a sturdy bond with everyone, Rosaline didn’t like to know that her parents had an active sex life.

Like younger sisters, it was Rosaline’s job to be the house pest and tag-along, but she knew that her brothers didn’t mind. At least, that’s what she hoped. Although Rosaline had a strong bond with all her brothers, her particular favorite was the one that was closest to her age. But, as they grew older, and their aspirations and preferences differed, the bond between the siblings had strung apart, leaving only polite conversation to be between them. Lionel was just two years older than her, and being the runts of the family, they both took it to heart to play pranks on their older siblings. All her brothers had always been protective of her, and they thought it was their duty to inspect, and pass, every guy that had ever gone on a date with their little sister. Though they loved Rosaline, her brothers had been in multiple fights with their sister, just like most siblings had.

Her family stick to her. She has a father and a mother who supports her in whatever she wants to pursue. Although she has wasted countless amounts of their money when she tried to be a ballerina, a swim champ, or a race-car driver, and even though she had failed in most, they still encourage her to try in new areas. But, the one thing that Rosaline had never failed to progress in was her piano skills. After starting up at the tender age of two, there was no doubt that Rosaline was one of the best, and youngest, pianists in the world. She had accompanied orchestras during the summer, wrote musical masterpieces and earned money from teaching pupils the basics of the piano. But, there was a constant fear in her heart that one day, all her fame and glory would be overridden by someone more talented, more youthful than she.

Due to her parents' occupations, Rosaline had spent most of her life traveling around the world. Although it was a wonderful prospect, and she was glad to have this kind of experience, her longing for a permanent home drove her to convince her parents to stay in one solid place to complete her last few years of school.

The arrogant social butterfly has both good and bad qualities. Though, most of them could be either. Rosaline has been known to get what she wants, even if it means for drastic measures. Although her sugary-sweet smiles seem to belong to a girl who didn’t have mommy or daddy give her everything she wanted, it was the complete opposite. Though it was not in her personality to flaunt the newest Tiffany's bracelet her parents sent her, Rosaline had no problem donning expensive articles.

Usually, she would attend social gatherings, if the schedule didn't take a negative toll on her studies. Rosaline knows that she has priorities, and school is the first one. Rosaline's social status was a peculiar thing. Despite her tendency to skip out on parties to study for an exam, her peers overlook these details and she was still considered well liked without having to move down on the social ladder. Her parents had an influence on her, telling her that looks aren't everything - and if she could manage both, she'd have the world at her every whim. Rosaline has, and still does, live on that moral. Though Rosaline might seem like your cliché school slut, who does nothing but party and screw guys, she's studious. And she means it. She knows that your looks will only get you so far, and intelligence is all that matters in the real world. She's a sensible kind of girl, but once in a while, she turns into the prissy queen she is and throws tantrums. Or worse - she gets even.

When it comes to love, Rosaline is a die-hard romantic, waiting for her mysterious and chivalrous Prince Charming to come and sweep her off her feet. But even this romantic knows that fairy tales don’t last forever. Although Rosaline is extroverted and arrogant, it doesn’t stop her from having a sensitive side. More or less, she’d become and introvert, mulling over life and its lessons and questioning morals. More than often will you find Rosaline using miscellaneous quotes as answers to questions, or in a conversation. As a dreamer, Rosaline often contemplates what will happen to her in the future, planning out the names of her children and even what her future home would look like.

To her, friends and loyalty are the same things. Although she doesn’t have a large group of close friends, she likes to keep in mind that the ones that she does are one in a million, and she couldn’t ask for more.

The summer and winter were her favorite seasons, since they were when her allergies became dormant. Aside from her musical career, Rosaline had a passion to follow into her mother's footsteps, allowing herself to transfer her creativity into fabrics and attire. With an eye for coordinating colors and a keen fashion sense, Rosaline is gifted in the area of design, whatever type it may be. Come fashion or interior, Rosaline is your girl for the job. Adding to her appreciation for the arts, Rosaline is also skilled in choreographing. And when she isn't occupied with any other extra-curricular activities, Rosaline enjoys reading, and her extensive book collection proves it to be true.

Although Rosaline has a thick skin, insects always get to her. That, and backstabbers. Untidiness and germs are big pet peeves, along with people who smell bad. There’s something called deodorant, perfume, and cologne, people.

As an ambitious girl, Rosaline always bit off more than she could chew, and being a procrastinator didn't help a bit. But, with one set goal in mind, Rosaline knew that she wanted to prove herself as, or even more, successful than both her parents. The dreams of settling down and starting a family had always been a dream, but her fear of commitments are a hindrance.

She could remember it like yesterday. A few months ago, the letter came. It had been sent in a manila envelope, a red seal pressed on the back of it, placed on her mahogany dining room table. She had been expecting it, even if her parents made no notice for her. Her back relaxed into the chair, slender fingers holding up the piece of paper. The contents were of the usual, written with black Indian ink, and words and phrases such as ‘disappointed’, ‘dishonor to our family’ were repeatedly written. But, the next few paragraphs had been a shock.

They were going to disown her.

There it was. In three paragraphs written with her mother's minuscule handwriting. It went into great detail about why they were doing this, how it was going to be done and how that they were 'extremely sorry that it had come down to this conclusion'. Well, they did have enough reasons to. The rebellious nature of their youngest daughter, just shy of twenty three, would have driven anyone to the brink of insanity. Reckless partying, tabloid headlines, her bi-polar disorder and of course, the breaking point, the drugs. Though, she did leave with more than she expected. A six digit bank account, a large apartment and her own business allowed her to live more than comfortably.

He came into her life just as soon as she came into this city. This beautiful city that provided her with everything that she’d wanted to break free. He was a meek character, one who’d rather follow orders than give them, despite that being completely oxymoronic considering his job. There was a chance of him breaking out and living up to his full potential, and she saw. As a natural manipulator, she made sure that she was never to blame for his actions. She made sure that it was he who came to her on his own free will, and she made his strongest characteristic into his weakest.

They had met a while ago, and she could barely remember when. The only chronological thing that she knew about their relationship was the order of actions. First phase was friendship, then a physical point, and it went back to friendship. It was a confusing era for them, yet, without any spoken terms, they knew where their relationship was. Physical without strings, and it was more than she deserved.

But without him, she would be as weak as he was. He was the one who always came back to her. And simply, he was the only she had left.

The concrete sounds hollow as regal strides pound on and on and on, the sound of her heels clicking in the silent city. He trails behind as he always does, mulling over decisions about how it’s not too late to turn around. But he never does. And she knows. But a constant fear encases her, that one day, as she’s confident about him standing behind her, and as she nonchalantly turns her head around to look at him, he’s not there.

And it’s slowly eating away at her.

Wind blows through her perfect curly tresses, her signature red lips bearing an all-knowing smirk. A nondescript gray trench-coat wrapped around her slender frame, hands tucked safely in their pockets. And she slowly glances behind herself, and notices that he’s still trailing behind her – she smiles.

The dingy, sullied building reeked with smells of garbage, smoke, and possibly dead animals. Her face tries to control the expression of disgust and distaste that threatened to escape as she, no, they trek up the stairs to their haven (or was it hers?). But, as the thoughts of what a few renovations could do for this building, thoughts of her obsession clouded her mind. The powder dissolving in a glass of water, her jewel encrusted syringe (which was safely placed in her purse) waiting to be used.

If only her parents could see her now. The royal bloodline had been only her, the sole heir of Dutch royality – the Van Der Harts. But, as her parents were graced with a son, nonetheless, in their fifties, Hera was no longer a concern. They had a son and as we all know, sons carry on the family name – not daughters. Perhaps it was the lack of attention that drove her to rebel, or maybe it was simply the breaking point of her patience for all things prim and proper. But, if she had a choice, she would not choose a different way to live her life.

Cocaine was such a demeaning name for her choice of drug. She preferred to call it her ‘Prince’. It sent her into an indescribable place of sanity that saved her from countless emotional breakdowns. Before she was about to consider using Prince before they entered the drug den, her hands curled into a fist and knocked on a metal door.


And as the door opens, and as the pale, white-haired White Rabbit greets them with so much eagerness that she can’t help but roll her eyes, and as she passes by her companion, whispering an almost inaudible ‘follow’ to him, Hera Van Der Hart, literally translating to the Queen of Hearts, enters her own little wonderland.

Her purse felt heavier and heavier by the minute, and that was not good. The Prince was waiting to serve His purpose, and the Prince was not a very patient being. A placed sneer marred her pretty face, though; it seemed to suit her well. A rancid mix of all the substances, plus a few others that she couldn’t identify at the moment, ran through her system, causing her gag reflexes to stop. If it wasn’t for her self control, the Queen would have up-chucked her breakfast right on the littered floorboards of the Den. Although the state of the Rabbit’s den was disgusting and completely against her standards, the Queen of Hearts knew that without doubt that he was the best provider. Of course, seeing from the activity of such a place was hard to doubt that he wasn’t the best of the best. Quality over quantity, as they say – not that she didn’t get quantity from the White Rabbit. No one went by their real names here, excluding Mary-Ann and Alice. But even then, those could have been their aliases. The people weren’t here to socialize. They were here to get what they wanted and to do it right then and there.

The Queen placed herself on a nearby couch, dusting any debris or dirt off the section where she was to place herself on. It was the only couch she dared to place herself on. The others were either deteriorating beyond repair, so filthy that even the sewer rats wouldn’t touch or occupied. She knew that without any hesitation or even a slight twitch of her finger, her companion was to place himself besides her. His eyes were closed before and she noticed. Of course, it’s rare that she doesn’t anything. He was never here to do anything. Even when she quirked an eyebrow as to ask if he wanted anything, he would only look away from her and remain silent. He simply paid to sit next to her when she was doing her deed. He waited patiently for her and on her hand and foot. He was there for her. Sometimes, late at night, when the Queen is unable to sleep, she recalls these certain moments and a slight twinge of guilt passes through. But, she thinks nothing of it and wills herself back to sleep, and when the next morning arrives, she wakes up with a clear conscience (or lack of).

“Of course we’re here. Why else would we have trekked down all those blocks and up these d**ned stairs if we weren’t here,” she stated quietly, though her tone was full of questioning and sarcasm. She knew that he meant well, and that he meant to only start polite conversation, but why talk about something that you’re obviously not HAPPY or comfortable talking about. This was the problem. He was always placing HER first. Sometimes, the Queen wished that her companion would actually talk back to her, or abandon her for at least a few hours just to worry her and let her doubt him. But, he was predictable and she knew everything that was wrong (or right) with him.

“Are you going to actually try something this time, or will you wait patiently as my lap dog?”

Her eyes scanned the proximity as she asked her King, looking for the d**ned Rabbit. The presences in the room were noticeable, but once you became a regular at the Den, they seemed to blend into the background and the normality of these situations. But some idiot had wandered into the kitchen, where the Rabbit looked as if he was about to piss his pants or rupture a vein or whatever. Her eyes rolled and her arms crossed across her chest, her back leaning into the velvety couch, knowing that it was going to be a while until the Rabbit served them.
