personality
charming roland is what you might call a ladies man. he knows how to handle women and he loves doing it. not to mention his mother raised him and his brother to respect women. she taught her boys how to treat a woman like she was the only one he thought of. she taught her boys how to make a girl feel like she's the only one in the room, male or female. roland's brother didn't take much to the lessons their mother taught them, but roland took every word his mother gave them. he soaked it up like a sponge. by the time roland was in his preteens he was sweeping the girls off their feet and charming one after another. however, he's no player. every girl roland was with he dated and he really did have feelings for everyone. his mother taught him to never give his heart freely. and she taught him to only pursue a girl if he really had feelings for her. though, roland couldn't help having girls loving him. he was just so...cute.
family orietated this little personality trait feeds off of roland's mother. she taught him everything he knows really. apart from schooling she was his soul provider of information in the world. roland also is very close with his brother. lyle was his english teacher and in that time he was teaching roland, the two boys became like best friends. they went every where together and shared everything - their friends, their clothes, their feelings, their everything, literally. also, before he died, roland was very close to his father. he was roland's role model. like every father was to his young son like roland.
down to earth roland handles everything smoothly. he's a very smoooooth guy. meaning he's calm and collected at almost all times. the one person who taught him to be like this was again...his mother! yay for moms. roland knows that everything in life can be worked out and worked through. he's not one to freak out because of a flat tire or you hear something that could be dangerous on the other side of a phone call (like breaking glass and then the phone goes dead).
pensive after his father's death, roland became a very insightful young boy. he was raised that way also. unlike his borther, roland took his father's death as a stepping stone (his brother became depressed and angry at life). this isn't one of roland's major qualities, but it feeds into his realistic, down to earth vibe. he has a very calm mind and takes everything in stride, like i said in the paragraph before. even with his mother's resent cancer situation, roland has been civil. he visits her twice a week and if not then once a week - every week. roland just wants to keep his mother placid and keep her from being scared.
